a thought from c.s.lewis

{ eva blossom's painting.  i can only assume that she is remembering trees dearly too }

c.s. lewis says this about fall : "but i remember more dearly autumn afternoons in bottom that lay intensely silent under old great trees."
and so today i am inspired to find an old great tree.  perhaps the full maple in my front yard.  and lay there and be reminded of how small i am, how delicate, and precious i am.   how today is significant simply because it's another day that i breathe.  that i get to kiss my girls.  kiss my husband.  hug a friend.  taste good food.  feel good, and not a sickness.  that i can delight in small things, simple things, which really are never quite as simple as i think.
